VIDEO STUDIO GDAŃSK

We are the first and the longest lasting independent TV producer in Poland.

We started in 1981 during the 1st Meeting of "Solidarity", operating as the first television of the first free trade union in communist Europe at that time. Recording the most important political and social events that made a new shape of the Polish reality and awareness was the main field of our activity, which we have continued incessantly, even at the time of martial law, up to this day. The result of our work connected with "Solidarity" movement is a rich archive collection (see: Archives) including film footage of the latest history of Poland. These materials as well as films and programmes produced at our company has been used by Polish Public TV and foreign TV stations: German ZDF, ARD and WDR, Swiss RTSI, American ABC and NBC, Japanese NHK, Swedish SVT1, BBC and the independent TV stations of the Central-Eastern European countries.

In spite of many political changes that have been taking place in our country we have always been independent on the state monopoly.

The effect of 20 years of our activity as a TV producer is more than 1500 audiovisual programmes: TV reports, educational and promotional films, TV comic programmes and talk-shows, advertising films, musical programmes and videoclips and - last but not least - documentary films , TV theatre performances and feature films. Political situation in Poland and in Europe, society, history, humanistic messages, economic education, national and ethnic minorities in Poland and abroad reflect in our production. We also focus on literature, theatre, music, fine arts and exploring the most inaccessible places in the world. Polish artists and explorers who are famous in the world make up the content of our programmes as well (see: Programmes with the rights to acquire).

Most of our productions have been broadcast by Polish Public TV. We have been the first independent TV producer in Poland the production of which was run on its air in 1990. It was a series called "TV from the underground".

TV audience in Poland watched more than 600 hours of our programmes broadcast by the Polish Public TV and commercial TV stations like TV POLSAT, TVN and CANAL + Poland.

Many of our programmes took part in Polish and international film festivals such as: "SCOOP" in Augers (France), The International Catholic Film Festival in Niepokalanów (Poland), Media Festival in Łódz (Poland), Balticum Film and TV Festival in Bornholm, Film Festival in Leipzig (Germany), Prix Europa competitions, The New York Festival, International and National Short and Documentary Film Festival in Cracow (Poland), Art Film Festival in Bratislava (Slovakia), Religion Today in Trento (Italy) , Muntanya i Aventura in Torello (Spain) where they have been awarded many times. Our roots and traditions reflect in the part of our activity that promotes the Gdańsk region: films like "Gdańsk", "The Kashubians", "The Kashubians Lake District", "There was a city of Gdańsk...", film impressions Gdańsk 997-1997, a documentary series The World of the Baltic Sea , organization of the Polish Feature Films Festival in Gdańsk/Gdynia, Polish Festival of Good Humour (a competition for TV comedies and entertainment programmes), International Film Open Air in Sopot for students of European film schools, animating and producing artistic events and shows of international range on Gdańsk musical nad theatre stages are examples of actions, carrying out our long-term task: to create a cultural centre of the Baltic Sea region in Gdańsk. We would like Gdańsk to become a place of exchanging experiences and ideas among film makers, literary men, journalists, artists, who come from this part of Europe. We would like these meetings bear fruit of creative activity of high artistic value.
